Hotkeys
The hotkey starts dictation in any app. In the usual flow you hold the key, speak, release it, and the text is inserted into the active field.
What should work
- starting and stopping dictation from any window;
- inserting text without manual copy/paste;
- no switching between apps while you work.
What breaks most often
macOS
If the hotkey doesn't fire, the Accessibility permission is almost always missing. Check:
System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility
and enable Speech Dock.
Linux
On Wayland, hotkeys and auto-paste need ydotoold and access to the input group. If the hotkey works but text isn't inserted, check this first.
What to do if the key doesn't fire
- Restart the app.
- Check system permissions.
- Make sure the hotkey isn't taken by another app.
- On Linux, check
ydotooldand your current Wayland/X11 session.
